D1: Sofia

Arrival in Sofia. Meet and greet with your tour guide.

Overnight stay in Sofia.

D2: Sofia – Veliko Tarnovo – Tryavna (290 km)

Drive to Veliko Tarnovo to learn more about the women in power in the Second Bulgarian Kingdom and how they influenced politics, religion and culture in the Balkans.

Continue to Tryavna and get to know the local crafts. Make martenitsa and learn more about the special rules of the Orthodox religion and the making of icons.

D3: Tryavna – Kazanlak – Zheravna (230 km)

Drive to the Valley of Roses and the Thracian Kings and immerse yourself in the world of essential oils. Be rejuvenated by the art of fragrances, create your own perfume and take an artist's photo to commemorate the day. Visit the Thracian tomb of Kazanlak (UNESCO).

Continue to Zheravna and learn all about the local cuisine, herbs, spices and wines of the Balkans. Dress up in traditional costumes and have fun like the locals and the fairies.

D4: Zheravna – Plovdiv (220 km)

Drive to Plovdiv, one of the oldest cities in Europe, which still preserves artefacts from Roman times. Visit to the Bishop’s Basilica of Philippopolis and the Ethnographic Museum in the old town. Free time in the artists' quarter of Kapana.

D5: Plovdiv – Devin (100 km)

Drive to Devin in the Rhodoppi Mountains and soak up the natural powers and mineral springs of the mountains. In the afternoon, visit the Devil’s Throat Cave. Legend has it that Orpheus descended here into the subterranean realm of Hades in search of his love Eurydice.

D6: Devin – Ribnovo – Melnik (200 km)

Drive to Ribnovo – the wedding customs are unique in this village – preserved from the old Bulgarian customs and influenced by the Islamic traditions.

Continue to Melnik, the smallest town in Bulgaria, nestled in the Pirin Mountains and known for its wines. Learn more about the local wines.

D7: Melnik – Rila Monastery – Sofia (250 km)

Drive to the Rila Monastery, the largest and most famous Orthodox monastery in Bulgaria (UNESCO) and return to Sofia.
